As a group, I acted as a project management team for a non-profit Guatemalan Book Project. We were tasked with planning the marketing efforts, collection, and transportation of 1 million books over two years from North Carolina to Guatemala. This project had to be done under a budget of $200,000. We planned out the project timeline and work breakdown structure with Microsoft Project and crafted a budget with the provided parameters.
I was tasked with performing an in-depth literature review on either a legal or ethical issue in the life sciences industry. I chose the topic of prenatal genetic testing and looked at the unintended consequences and ethical conflicts that can result from getting tested, and the methods to resolve these issues.
As a group, I helped research the biopharma industry to determine overall market, business and technology trends, current challenges, criteria for success, and future trends for the industry. We wrote a comprehensive paper and gave a presentation to summarize the information.
One presentation my group was assigned was to provide an update of the COVID-19 situation. We were tasked with researching the global and local case counts, prevalence by age, success in flattening the curve, and recommendations we could give others in order to stay safe.
Our first presentation for this course required us to read a case study explaining how researchers analyzed the impact of biotechnology on the established pharma industry, then report out a summary of the results.
