INDIVIDUAL WORK
I completed a literature review on the topic of metaproteomics, the method of analyzing the protein composition of an entire environmental sample or microorganisms. I assessed the history of metaproteomics, its multiple applications, and the challenges hindering its widespread use.
One requirement of this Masters degree program is to complete an internship between our first and second years. I had the pleasure of working with Covance, Inc during the summer of 2020. I compiled a presentation and written portfolio with reflections from the summer.
I completed a literature review on the topic of eNtRyway, a novel software application that can be used to discover possible antibiotics. I assessed the history of antibiotic development, antibiotic resistance, and how this software can help combat the crisis in the future.
I completed a presentation on a local biotechnology company. I chose Boragen, a company utilizing Boron to benefit multiple areas, such as animal health and crop management. This project was fun because I got to tour the company and speak with employees.
I wrote a technology summary about the novel strain of blueberry, pinnacle. This technology is open for licensing on NC State's Office of Research Commercialization. I researched the blueberry market and history for this - a different, but fun project
I completed a current event assignment in which I evaluated a recent discovery in the biotechnology field for its importance and possible future use.
I completed a literature review on the topic of the TGx Biomarker Panel. I assessed the history of toxicogenomics, the development process of the technology, the biomarker's current success, and its future implementation.

My group collaborated with a Principal Investigator to aid her in identifying the best funding sources for and potential competitors of her novel hydrogel
My group and I assisted AAD with assessing the use of their novel technology in spesis detection in humans
My group collaborated with a Principal Investigator to aid her in choosing the best market for her novel synthetic platelet product.
Refresh of Customer-Facing Materials for ILS, Inc
My group worked with ILS to design new marketing materials in order to modernize the company's customer-facing documents.
My group collaborated with a Principal Investigator to aid him in applying his research on Upstream Stimulatory Factor (USF) Protein to the cancer detection market.
